Day One

It finally arrived. Watching the guys scrape it across my driveway and into my garage hurt my soul. I sent this picture to a billion people.
But of course that’s less interesting than the unwrapped photo. Don’t look at that burn in.
One thing I noticed immediately was how loud it sounded. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure if it’s actually much louder than a typical Versus City. The only other Versus Cities I’ve seen are in loud environments, so I wouldn’t be able to hear the fans anyway. Still, I wanted to see how nasty the fans looked.
I’ll try to clean these eventually, but maybe I’ll end up just getting new Noctua fans. More concerning was the P1 side monitor showing horizontal bars.
I looked into it a little bit and people told me I have to adjust the flyback. I have no idea how to do that, but I will learn. I guess the real first step is getting a game of some sort running. My issue is that this has 4 button Tekken panels, so the 6 button games I want to play will be worthless. My initial plan was to get new panels and buy a game, but after talking about it to my dad, he suggested buying a Tekken 5 board just so I can actually use the thing and then from there I can decide what to replace. I’m not totally sure what Tekken 5 boards go for, but I’ll look into that. I’ll probably look into it right after I’m done writing this.
I didn’t take pictures of this part, but I also wiped the machine down with Simple Green and tried to scrub off some of the tar. Two of the lightbulbs in the P2 side winner lamp were loose, so I screwed them back in. Really interesting stuff, I know. I fucked with it all day and then only got 3 hours of sleep before going to work, which is where I am while writing this very sentence.
